Tempora mutantur-時は移ろう
ショー、クライスラー、クライン、ハイドンの作品
It’s a special connection: The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has worked regularly with Pekka Kuusisto since 2002. In 2017, the orchestra named him ›Artistic Best Friend‹, and in 2019 the Finnish violinist also for the first time stood in front of the ensemble in the role of conductor – an exceptional artist who sheds new light on the classical repertoire with his virtuosity and artistic interpretation, but who also explores forms of improvisation and the folk music of his homeland and, last but not least, naturally integrates the music of our times into his performances. »It is no misfortune if the composer is not yet dead,« he once remarked, and in this concert he builds bridges between the US-based composers Caroline Shaw and Anna Clyne, who both reference Haydn, and the violin virtuoso Kreisler, who donned a baroque cloak for his violin concerto in the style of Vivaldi. The epithet for Haydn’s 64th symphony is still the subject of speculation, but one thing is certain: ›tempora mutantur‹, »the times are changing, and we are changing with them«.
