The Board of Trustees of The Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen was founded in 2011. The orchestra is proud and thankful to have such qualified and prominent figures from cultural, economic and media sectors playing a part of The Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen.

Prof. Dr Jens Weidmann

Frankfurt

Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Commerzbank AG and professor at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. He was President of the German Central Bank, member of the ECB’s Governing Council and Chairman of the Bank for International Settlements in Basel. In the Federal Chancellery, he had previously headed the economic policy department and was Chancellor Angela Merkel’s personal representative for the economic summits of the G8 and G20 countries. He has felt a bond with the orchestra since his visit to Bremen a few years ago, when he was impressed by the innovative power of the Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie.

Dr. Thomas Bellut

Board mandates at four German television production companies. He was Director-General at Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen, Germany’s second public broadcaster, for 10 years, and before that Programme Director with responsibility for music programming. He has had ties to the Bremen-based orchestra since the transmission of the awarding of the German Founder’s Prize to The  Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen by ZDF in 2008.

Gabriele Eick

Frankfurt a.M.

Long-time communications consultant to the EUROPE CULTURAL DAYS of the European Central Bank. Management positions with IBM, A.C. Nielsen Marketing Beratung and Dresdner Bank; Chief Executive Officer of Business and Economic Development Corp. Frankfurt. Founded the management consultancy ›Executive Communications‹ in 2000, with emphasis on marketing and communications. Active on various committees and supervisory boards, including University Council of Goethe University, Frankfurt.

Prof. Dr Alfred Gossner

Munich

Economist and President of the Munich Business School. Previously, he was, among other things, a consultant at McKinsey, a long-standing board member of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and worked for many years in international management, for example as Managing Director of the Allianz Group in South Africa and Namibia. With his extensive supervisory and advisory board experience and his passion for classical music, he is now actively engaged on behalf of The Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen.

Dr Jürgen Heraeus

Hanau

Chairman of Heraeus Holding GmbH. One of the most respected entrepreneurs in Germany. Heraeus also serves as Chairman of the German Committee for UNICEF. He became acquainted with The Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen in 2008, when the orchestra was presented with the German Founders Award.

Prof. Dr Dr Peter Ruzicka

Hamburg/Munich

Director General of the Salzburg Easter Festival, former Manager of the Hamburg State Opera and Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival and of the Munich Biennale. Considered one of the most important contemporary composers, sought-after conductors and successful arts managers of today, Ruzicka brought The Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen to the Salzburg Festival in 2004.

Dr. Clemens Trautmann

Berlin

President of Deutsche Grammophon. He previously held various management positions at Axel Springer SE, most notably as head of the office of CEO Dr Mathias Döpfner, and as managing director and CFO of the real estate portal Immonet. He earned a PhD in law and in parallel successfully trained as a musician, for example at the Juilliard School New York. As a clarinetist, he has been awarded prizes by the German Music Competition and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and been invited to perform recitals at the Berlin Philharmonie and the Lincoln Center in New York, among others.

Ulrich Wilhelm

Berlin

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Frankfurt-based Fazit Foundation, fully qualified lawyer and graduate of the Deutsche Journalistenschule (German School of Journalism) in Munich. He previously held several high-profile roles, including as head of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts; from 2005 to 2010 he acted as a spokesman for the federal government. From 2011 to 2021, he served as Director General of Bayerischer Rundfunk and in the years 2018 and 2019 additionally as Chairman of the public broadcaster ARD.
