シューベルトとベルワルドの作品
To this day, his vitality, elegance and a musicality charged with a spiritual intensity derived from a deep analysis of the score turn every single performance into an unforgettable experience. Following his magnificent interpretation of Beethoven’s ‘Missa solemnis’ in 2012, the now 93-year-old Swedish maestro Herbert Blomstedt returns to the podium of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
Schubert was not yet 20 years old when he created his 3rd Symphony from a spontaneous inner impulse, a light-filled piece suffused with dancing gaiety and Viennese tradition. Berwald was born in Stockholm one year before Schubert. He found it difficult to establish himself as a composer, despite his good connections in the music scenes of Berlin and Vienna, and so he also worked as an orthopaedist and ran a sawmill and a glass-blowing workshop. It is largely thanks to Herbert Blomstedt that Berwald’s highly original musical heritage characterised by a fine classicism has survived until today.
