In January 2022 ›Boston Classical Review‹ described Elim Chan’s debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra as a »marvel of control and understanding«. No other conductor of her generation is currently in as much demand with North American and European orchestras. Chan has a broad repertoire, ranging from the Classical to the contemporary. This season, the Wiener Musikverein is even devoting its own portrait series to her, including on the podium of the Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen. Born in Hong Kong in 1986, this young conductor was, in 2014, the first woman to win the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition and subsequently became Assistant Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. Since 2019 Elim Chan has been Chief Conductor of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and, since 2018, has been permanent Guest Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

In previous seasons, she has debuted with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and with the Orchestre National de Lyon, stood on the podium with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. the 2021/22 season began for her at the Edinburgh International Festival, followed by debuts with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the ORF Radio- Symphonieorchester Wien.

She also returned to the orchestras with which she is closely associated, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen welcomes this conductor’s first appearance as part of its subscription concert series at the Glocke in Bremen.

キアン・ソルターニ

Celebrated by ›The Times‹ as a »remarkable Cellist«, Kian Soltani’s playing is characterised by great depth of expression and technical mastery, praised by ›Gramophone‹ as »sheer perfection«. Added to this is the charismatic stage presence with which this cellist establishes an immediate connection with his audience. Born in Bregenz in 1992 to a Persian family of musicians, Kian Soltani is a rising star in the music world. He has been invited to perform with the world’s leading orchestras and thus, he opened the 2022/23 season with numerous festival appearances, including at the BBC Proms, the Rheingau Music Festival and the Vaduz Classic Festival. His most recent orchestral highlights include concerts with the Tonhalle Orchester Zurich, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the WDR Symphony Orchestra, to name just a few.

In summer 2021, Soltani was also Artist in Residence at the Schleswig Holstein Festival where, among other things, he presented a Persian evening with the Shiraz Ensemble. He has also given recitals in New York’s Carnegie Hall, at the Salzburg and Lucerne Festivals, in London’s Wigmore Hall and in Berlin’s Boulez Saal. In 2017, Soltani signed an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon and in autumn 2022, he was awarded the much-coveted Opus Klassik for the first time.
