A successful soloist with more than three hundred international orchestras as well as concert, television and radio appearances in all the top musical centres of Europe, Brazil, Israel, Canada, China, Australia, Japan and the USA, Sabine Meyer is unquestionably one of the world’s most renowned soloists. Originally from Crailsheim, Sabine Meyer began her career as a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. This was followed by a period as Principal Clarinettist with the Berlin Philharmonic which, soon after, was followed by engagements with some of the world’s leading orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo. Meyer has been Professor for Clarinet at Lübeck Music College since 1993.
In addition, Sabine Meyer is a passionate chamber musician and works regularly with artists such as Julian Banse, Martin Helmchen, Daniel Hope, Nils Mönkemeyer, the Hagen Quartet, the Modigliani Quartet and the Schumann Quartet. In 1983 she founded the Trio di Clarone with her husband Reiner Wehle and brother Wolfgang Meyer. Numerous recordings also document Meyer’s extensive repertoire which ranges from pre-classical to contemporary compositions. This celebrated musician has been honoured eight times with the Echo Klassik, is the recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit and a number of other important awards. In summer 2018 Sabine Meyer was portrait artist at the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival.
