This Finnish singer is one of the most versatile and sought-after Scandinavian tenors who has been equally successful on the opera stage as he has in the recital hall. He has enjoyed a close cooperation with the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki for many years, as well as with the Savonlinna Opera Festival. Last season he also had engagements at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, the Opera National du Rhin, the Opera de Lille and the Seattle Opera.
Tuomas Katajala also has an extensive recital and oratorio repertoire, which he has performed at international venues with distinguished conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Kent Nagano, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Susanna Mälkki and Hannu Lintu.
This season, Tuomas Katajala will again be on the international stage, including as ›Loge‹ in a concertante version of ›Rheingold‹ in Singapore, as ›Max‹ in ›Der Freischütz‹ at the Theater an der Wien and with the Wiener Symphoniker in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
