Shakespeare in the 21st century
1st Mini Subscription Concert II
Works by Janáček, Wigglesworth, Mozart and Strauss
The list of his positions as horn soloist reads like the Who’s Who of the top central European orchestras: Czech Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Radek Baborak, son of a Prague family of musicians, has played his way to international stardom with his horn and is now making a first-time guest appearance performing Mozart’s Concerto in E-flat major with The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, which for these two concerts will be appearing with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie – the start of a regular, future-pointing collaboration between these two orchestras. On the conductor’s podium is Ryan Wigglesworth, who will conduct his own composition, ›Locke’s Theatre‹, a homage to English composer Matthew Locke from the 17th century and to Shakespeare’s drama ›The Tempest‹. The programme is framed by works by Leoš Janáček and Richard Strauss.
