New steps, familiar phenomenon

1st Hansa Subscription I Concert

Works by Janáček, Schumann and Mozart

The string of famous names ranges from Daniel Barenboim to Murray Perahia and Sir András Schiff: pianists, who have suddenly – in the middle of a successful solo career – taken up conducting. The latest to do so is Lars Vogt! He has already ventured into this territory more than once, for example at his chamber music festival ›Spannungen‹ in Heimbach. Members of the Kammerphilharmonie such as Florian Donderer, Ulrich König or Stefan Rapp have also been part of this festival family for many years. As has solo cellist Tanja Tetzlaff. With Lars Vogt, Tanja Tetzlaff has already performed together at countless concerts. Conversely, Lars Vogt has been among the closest musical friends of the Kammerphilharmonie for many years. Most recently, he has involved in the Brahms project with Paavo Järvi electrifying audiences in Tokyo and New York with his performances of the piano concertos. Now Lars Vogt, Tanja Tetzlaff and the Kammerphilharmonie are daring to accomplish the unusual: pairing orchestral repertoire with chamber music. Leoš Janáčeks ›Concertino‹ for piano and six soloists and his ›Pohádka‹ for cello and piano create an exciting contrast to the compositions by Schumann and Mozart scored for much larger ensembles.

The concert will be broadcast live on Deutschlandradio.
