Reinhard Goebel, a conductor who specialises in 17th, 18th and early 19th century music, is revered as an »early music icon«. In demand worldwide, he acts not only as a mediator of historical performance practice to modern orchestras and early music ensembles alike, but also as an inexhaustible source of repertoire treasures.

In 1973 he formed the legendary Musica Antiqua Köln which he has directed for 33 years. Since then, he has inspired and polarised the contemporary orchestral landscape with his unique ability to amalgamate his passion for music with a detailed knowledge of musicological sources. Reinhard Goebel’s multifaceted works have won numerous awards: in 1984 he was awarded the Buxtehude Prize by the city of Lübeck, in 2015 he was selected by BBC Music Magazine as one of the top 20 best violinists of all time and he was awarded the Bach Medal of the city of Leipzig in 2017.

The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has for years maintained a musical friendship with the conductor and gives regular concerts under the direction of his baton; the 2021/22 season is no exception. He will also be appearing with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunk as well as with the Swedish Radio Orchestra Stockholm. After the immense success of his CD series ›Beethoven’s World‹, the series ›New Mozart‹ with the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg – in which largely previously unrecorded arrangements and works by Mozart will feature – will also be appearing during the 2021/22 season.
