»Among the world’s star soloists, she is as keen a listener and as accomplished and sensitive a chamber music partner as one can get« (New York Times).
The Dutch violinist Janine Jansen enjoys an enviable international reputation and collaborates with the world’s most well-known orchestras and conductors. During the 21/22 season, she performed twice with the Berlin Philharmonic. Engagements with the Bayerische Rundfunk Orchester (Mallwitz) with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra (Mäkelä) and Gianandrea Noseda with the London Symphony Orchestra represent further highlights.
Since recording Vivaldi’s ›Four Seasons‹ in 2003, Jansen has been particularly successful in the music charts, and has an exclusive contract with Decca Classics. Her new recording ›12 Stradivari‹ was released in September 2021; an unusual project featuring 12 magnificent Stradivarius instruments. Jansen selected the repertoire for the project herself in order to emphasise the unique qualities of each instrument as well as to explore the history of the violins and their owners in more detail.
Janine Jansen, also a passionate chamber musician, will be returning this season to her roots as ›Guest Artistic Director‹ at the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht. She has been professor at the HEMU Sion (Haute Ecole de Musique Vaud Valais Freiburg) since 2019.
Janine Jansen plays the exquisite ›Shumsky – Rode‹ Stradivarius (1715) which has been loaned to her by a European patron.
