Conductor

Jader Bignamini

Jader Bignamini first came to international attention as a conductor with the Milanese orchestra Sinfonica LaVerdi where, in 2010 he gave his debut conducting Mahler’s 5th Symphony. In 2012 he celebrated further successes with ›Andrea Chénier‹ by Umberto Giordano, and also with Bizet’s ›Carmen‹. To date, this Cremona-born conductor remains closely linked with the orchestra as Resident Conductor and can also be heard performing with world class orchestras across the globe. In recent seasons he has conducted operas as well as symphonic concerts from Rome to Moscow and from Hong Kong to Argentina.

Highlights from previous seasons include performances of Verdi’s ›Troubadour‹ at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, ›Madame Butterfly‹ at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and at the Vienna State Opera as well as a Gala-Opera Concert at the Salzburg Festival. His greatest achievements in the symphonic repertoire have taken this conductor to some of the world’s most well-known concert halls, including the Netherlands National Opera in Amsterdam and the Bavarian State Opera. Last autumn he released a belcanto CD with the soprano Marina Rebeka and the Teatro Massimo Orchestra Palermo, as well as a CD of opera arias on the Deutsche Grammophon label, with Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov and a further CD on the Sony label with opera arias by Verdi, sung by the tenor Juan Diego Florez.

Soprano

Anna Netrebko

The reigning prima donna of the 21st century, Anna Netrebko has redefined what it means to be an opera star and has become the most acclaimed soprano in the world. From singing at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics to becoming the first classical artist named to TIME magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people, she serves as opera’s leading global ambassador and is widely recognized as one of today’s most compelling, committed performing artists in any genre.

In live performance and on award-winning recordings, Anna’s portrayals of opera’s most iconic heroines have already made an indelible mark on the canon. More recently, as she’s ventured into bolder, more dramatic repertoire, her place in the annals of operatic history have only been further confirmed. In addition to regularly headlining productions with the world’s leading opera companies, Anna has appeared extensively in concerts and recitals across five continents. Her performances in celebration of the World Cup openings in 2006 at Berlin’s s Waldbühne amphitheater and in 2018 in Moscow’s Red Square were both internationally televised events. An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon recording artist since 2002, Anna’s extensive discography comprises complete operas, concert repertoire, numerous bestselling solo albums, and a recording of love duets with her husband, Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov.

Among Anna’s many honors are a 2017 International Opera Award for ›Best Female Singer‹; the Opera News Award; three Grammy Award nominations and ›Female Artist of the Year‹; the Russian State Prize and designation ›People’s Artist of Russia‹; and Austria’s ›Kammersängerin‹.

Born in 1971 in Krasnodar, Russia, Anna studied vocal performance at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. A mother and passionate advocate for children’s causes, she shares her infectious joie de vivre – along with her love of family, fashion, and food – on social media, inspiring people to live their most colorful lives and to celebrate what makes them unique.

Tenor

Yusif Eyvazov

Yusif Eyvazov has an extraordinary stage presence – as both an opera singer and on the concert platform. This Azerbaijani singer has attended master-classes with the renowned tenor Franco Corelli and with Soprano Ghena Dimitrova in Italy, since which time Eyvazov has performed in all the world’s great opera houses; the Berlin and Vienna State Opera Houses, the Opéra National de Paris, the Metropolitan Opera, the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres in Russia as well as many more. The LA Times has described him as an »exciting tenor« whose tone sounds »decidedly Italian«.

Last season, Yusif Eyvazov debuted in the title role of ›Andrea Chenier‹ at La Scala Milan and also toured South America. Together with his wife Anna Netrebko, he also released their new crossover album ›Romanza‹ and toured Asia, Australia and New Zealand. This season, Eyvazov has sung the role of Dick Johnson in Puccini’s ›La Faniculla del West‹ at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as the title role in Verdi’s ›Don Carlos‹. Further performances at the Royal Opera House, Cologne Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and, as Maurizio in ›Adriana Lecouvreur‹, at the Salzburg Festival have also featured this season.
