Every member of the orchestra is at the same time a shareholder in The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen gGmbH – and therefore jointly responsible for the economic success of the whole enterprise. The musicians as shareholders, social commitment and international triumphs: this unique and successful combination of entrepreneurship and cultural engagement earned the orchestra the German Founders Award (›Deutscher Gründerpreis‹) – a business award honouring outstanding entrepreneurial achievements and conferred by German TV channel ZDF, news magazine Stern, Porsche and the German savings banks group (Sparkassen).

The orchestra’s efforts to become economically self-sufficient have indeed paid off: almost three-quarters of the orchestra’s income is now self-generated.
