Tarmo Peltokoski

›Principal Guest Conductor‹ of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen

For the first time in its 42-year-history, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has awarded the title of ›Principal Guest Conductor‹. From February 2022, the young Finn Tarmo Peltokoski will be the first to hold this position.

For the orchestra members and Managing Director Albert Schmitt, it was a logical step to welcome the Finnish multi-talent within The Kammerphilharmonie family after his acclaimed German debut in June 2021 at the ›Glocke‹ concert hall in Bremen, followed by further musical activities. »We took advantage of the exceptional pandemic situation to do unusual things, such as giving a 21-year-old young artist the opportunity to introduce himself as a conductor. The experience was simply overwhelming and it was clear we absolutely had to engage him.«

Paavo Järvi, Artistic Director of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen since 2004, is delighted with the addition. »I have met Tarmo, am impressed by his talent and am very much looking forward to a lively exchange with him in the coming years,« Järvi said. For Peltokoski, who has long admired The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie and greatly appreciates the exceptional skill, curiosity and attention to detail of each orchestra member, a long-held wish is coming true. »Deep love and respect binds me to The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. The greatest moments of music making I have experienced have been with them, and I am indescribably grateful, honoured and blessed to have been granted this title«, Peltokoski said.

This year, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and its first Principal Guest Conductor can be heard at the Musikfest Bremen, the Beethovenfest Bonn and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, among others.

On tour with La Maestra

This concert hall rightly bears the word ›palace‹ in its name, as it was an impressive setting in which Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen resumed its international concert activities this year. Featuring Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra, widely acclaimed as »La Maestra«, and 19-year-old violinist María Dueñas, celebrated as Andalusia’s »violin wunderkind«, the orchestra gave a guest performance at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona in March in a brilliant prelude to a short joint tour.

Kurier, Vienna

»… The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is without a doubt one of the most interesting ensembles around today.«
