Maxim Emelyanychev

Maxim Emelyanychev, Principal Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Baroque ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro and, from 2025, Principal Guest Conductor of the Stockholm Radio Symphony Orchestra, made his conducting debut at the age of 12. He received his training in conducting and piano in his hometown of Nizhny Novgorod and at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Today, this musician, born in 1988, is in demand internationally and performs throughout Europe and in Japan. In recent years, he has debuted on the most important stages and with renowned orchestras including the Royal Opera House and the Orchestre de Paris, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin and others.

Last season, Maxim Emelyanychev performed at the London Proms, debuted with the Berlin Philharmonic and with the New Japan Philharmonic, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra and others. A versatile musician, he has also recorded Schubert’s 9th Symphony and the Mendelssohn Symphonies Nos. 3 and 5 with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. With the ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, he recorded the Handel Symphony ›Agrippina‹ and the album ›In War and Peace – Harmony Through Music‹ which was honoured with a Gramophone Award in 2017. He received the ICMA Award 2019 for his Brahms piano and violin sonatas with Aylen Pritchin and his Mozart sonatas on fortepiano. His recordings of Mozart symphonies with Il Pomo d’Oro were honoured with the Edison Klassiek Award 2023.
