Matthias Cordes

Violin

Matthias Cordes received his first violin lessons in his home city of Hamburg. He completed his music studies in Hanover, at the Mozarteum Salzburg and in Berlin. He took part in a number of masterclasses, for example with Sándor Végh, Ernst Kovacic and Harriolf Schlichtig.

Following a year in the orchestra of the Young German Philharmonic, he became a member of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in 1985.

In his leisure time he enjoys going on city breaks with his family, who – like himself on orchestra tours – are keen to visit different cultural centres. He also likes the outdoor life and hiking along coasts and cliffs.
