Jonathan Stone has an extensive career in which he has presented a wide range of genres as a soloist, conductor, artistic director and chamber musician. Born in Britain, he has been concertmaster of the Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen since 2023. He completed his studies with Howard Davis at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he is now Professor of Violin. Jonathan Stone also coaches chamber music ensembles and gives international masterclasses.

Since 2005, he has been a violinist with the Doric String Quartet which has recently developed into one of the world’s leading ensembles and has performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Vienna’s Musikverein, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie and London’s Wigmore Hall. Stone is also a violinist with the Phoenix Piano Trio, a regular guest of the Nash Ensemble and he conducts the French orchestra le Cercle de l’Harmonie. His love of chamber music also takes this versatile musician to many festivals. Jonathan Stone is also in demand as a guest conductor with various ensembles such as the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the Manchester Collective, the Britten Sinfonia and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. His debut solo CD with pianist Sholto Kynoch featuring sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven will be released in 2024. In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys reading to his three children and taking walks with his dog.
