The wind soloists of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen have been performing together as an established ensemble since 1990. The basic ensemble forms a wind octet with the option of adding an extra flute or double bass, according to requirements.
In addition to the diverse classical repertoire for wind octet, the wind soloists play various works in specially commissioned arrangements by Andreas N. Tarkmann, for instance Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and Smetana’s The Bartered Bride. Tarkmann has also produced a fantastic wind version of Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Wind Soloists perform regularly in the Alten Oper in Frankfurt, the Herkulessaal in Munich, in the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, in the Philharmonie in Berlin, at the Mozart Festival in Prague, at the International Music Festival in Lucerne, at the MDR Musical Summer and at the Rheingau Music Festival.
The arrangements of Mozart’s operas for wind ensemble and Japanese Kyogen actor – with whom the ensemble has already toured Japan several times – have been particularly successful. This collaboration, together with Mozart’s The Magic Flute, was first presented on tour in Germany in May 2011 – to great acclaim.
In addition to radio and television productions, the ensemble has already recorded several CDs, among them recordings of original works by Schubert and Weber as well as Tarkmann’s arrangement of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which won an Echo Klassik Award.
