Anna Prohaska made her debut at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden aged 20, where despite an acclaimed international career she remains a member of the ensemble. She attracted attention early on for her incredibly versatile repertoire, which ranges from Handel’s operas to world premieres, working with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim or Sir Simon Rattle. She was soon performing on the world’s most prestigious stages, including Milan’s La Scala, the Bolshoi Theatre, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden or the Paris Opera.
She performs regularly at leading concert houses around the world. Appearances on the concert platform include the Cleveland Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic or the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. She has sung under Claudio Abbado, Herbert Blomstedt, Pierre Boulez, Daniel Harding, Mariss Jansons, Yannick Nézét-Séguin or Franz Welser-Möst.
On the early music scene, Anna has worked with Nicolaus Harnoncourt and the Concentus Musicus and performs regularly with the Academy of Ancient Music, the Freiburger Barockorchester or the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
With her thematic Lied recitals, she is a popular guest at recital halls such as the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, London’s Wigmore Hall, in Vienna or Berlin.
Numerous recordings for Deutsche Grammophon have earned her awards such as the ECHO Klassik. Her latest album Serpent & Fire: Arias for Dido and Cleopatra (released in June by alpha) went straight to the top of the classic charts.
