¡Viva España!

Nocturne

Traditional flamenco teams up with jazz – with riveting interpretations on the violin, guitar, double bass and drums. With this mix, the four Spanish musicians have for the past ten years been fascinating audiences in Spain and at festivals throughout Europe. The journal Flamenco-World enthused: »The band left us all speechless – audience and critics alike.«

Ultra High Flamenco

In 2005 the great flamenco dancer Joaquin Grilo created a band bringing together four musicians for the first time: Paquito González, Alexis Lefevre, José Quevedo and Pablo Martín-Caminero. From the instantaneous chemistry between these four a unique musical project was born: Ultra High Flamenco. Their premiere took place at Flamenco Festival Helsinki 2007. Also in 200 the band recorded its first album, ›UHF‹.

Since that year, UHF has played at the best jazz, flamenco and world music festivals around the world such as Manchester Jazz Fest, Edinburgh Jazz Fest, Jazz 365 Bilbao Fest, Sofia Jazz Plus, El jazz viene del Sur in Sevilla, Festival Encuentros in Cuenca, Bienal de Sevilla, Flamenco Biennale Netherlands, Galileo Galilei in Madrid, Festival Flamenco in Berlin, Festival Ciutat Bella in Barcelona, Festival Nuits Flamencas de Chateauvallon in France and more. Flamenco and improvisation being its basic elements, the whole repertoire is composed by the four musicians.

Early 2010 they edited the second edition of the album ›UHF‹ which was nominated as Best Flamenco Album by the Independent Phonographic Union in Spain.

The second album ›Bipolar‹ was released in 2011 at Festival International de Flamenco in Jerez. It was acclaimed in many countries throughout Europe, America and Asia. As well as the previous album, ›Bipolar‹ was nominated for Best Flamenco Album in Spain by UFI.

In January 2015 UHF took part in a fusion project produced by Flamenco Biennale NL with the dutch jazz musicians Tony Roe, Oene Van Geel and Maarten Ornstein. Currently Ultra High Flamenco is preparing a new album and a world tour.
