Musical Truffle Seekers
1st Hansa I Subscription Concert
Works by Eberl, Clement and Beethoven
Successful truffle seekers are few and far between. But what about musical truffle seekers? If that were also the case, Reinhard Goebel, who has discovered many a treasure, would be peerless. For his latest expedition with The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen – he already inspired the musicians on one of their intensive retreat projects – he’s got a couple of such musical truffles up his sleeve: one of the symphonies by Anton Eberl, the flamboyant Viennese musician in Mozart’s and Beethoven’s shadow, and the First Violin Concerto by Franz Clement, also from Vienna and a Beethoven contemporary. The members of the orchestra are especially proud of the soloist for the evening. Sarah Christian has been concert master since 2015 and has made a number of solo performances with her orchestra. With this concert, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is honouring her outstanding success at this year’s ARD Music Competition. As the clear favourite in the audience rating, Sarah Christian won the competition hands down even with her second prize (no first prize was awarded). There’s only one fitting way to celebrate it: with a solo performance in Bremen.
