Contemporary romanticism
3rd First Night Subscription Concert
Works by Dvořák, Pintscher and Mendelssohn
The careers of this evening’s two artists are just as closely associated with New Music as with the Repertoire Classics. Now, pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Matthias Pintscher together take on the – unjustly – often overlooked Piano Concerto by Antonin Dvorak. This is accompanied by Mendelssohn’s Third. It is always fascinating to observe the dedication and profound knowledge these two specialists of New Music bring to the classics and the equally surprising and compelling interpretations that emerge. With this programme, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen will debut as ›Orchestra in Residence‹ in the new Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. The programme also includes a composition penned by conductor Matthias Pintscher, who in the opening season is ›Composer in Residence‹ of the new concert hall – how apt!
