Conductor

Tarmo Peltokoski

»Attention – here comes a genius!«, wrote the French ›Diapason Magazine‹ about the amazing young conductor Tarmo Peltokoski. It was a great stroke of luck that the Finnish multi-talent gave his German debut with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in June 2021. The unusually good collaboration with this extraordinary young talent resulted in an entire series of return appearances. In February 2022, Tarmo Peltokoski – who, alongside conducting, also studied piano, composition and arranging – was appointed the Kammerphilharmonie’s ›Principal Guest Conductor‹.

In recent seasons, Peltokoski has debuted at many major festivals including the Rheingau Music Festival and the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, as well as in the great concert halls such as Köln Philharmonie and Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie. He has also given debuts with the HR-Sinfonieorchester, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orkest. In August 2022, aged 22, Tarmo Peltokoski conducted his first complete Wagner Ring Cycle at the Eurajoki Bel Canto Festival. In the same year he was appointed Musical and Artistic Director of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Principal Guest Conductor of Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orkest and Musical Director of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. This summer, this young Finn with give his debut with the LA Philharmonic with a concert in the famous Hollywood Bowl.

Percussion

Martin Grubinger

Technical perfection, a joy of playing and musical versatility make Martin Grubinger most likely the best multi-percussionist in the world. His repertoire stretches from solo works through chamber music with his Percussive Planet Ensemble to solo concertos. In the many years of his stage career, this multi-award-winning artist has made a unique contribution to placing the percussion as a solo instrument right at the centre of classical concert performance.

Alongside his many appearances at well-known festivals such as the Heidelberg Frühling, Bregenz Festival, Beethoven Festival in Bonn, and the Salzburg Festival (to name but a few), Grubinger has also played contemporary commissions, including with orchestras such as the Wiener Philharmoniker and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. In addition, he has won audiences over in performances with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra Washington, Bamberger Symphoniker and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and numerous others. The 2022/23 season will be this internationally renowned artist’s last as, after almost two decades, he is saying goodbye to the stage. His concert with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen will be one of the last, before Martin Grubinger devotes himself to new endeavours.
