Mozart – with a difference
Works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Reinhard Goebel, the long-standing musical friend of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, guarantees exciting programmes. Time and again, his meticulous search for rarely-performed works dating from a time whose repertoire is considered fully discovered reveals some astonishing treasures. Mozart’s complete Piano Fantasia in C minor K. 475 is complemented by the first movement of the Piano Sonata K.457 in the same key. In the arrangement for large orchestra by his contemporary Carl David Stegmann, these two works have virtually become a ›new‹ symphony by the master. Franz Johannes Gleißner, author of the first Mozart catalogue of works, orchestrated the already symphonic Gran Partita. A slightly different style of arrangement was the 1802 version of the much-loved clarinet concerto for viola, whose tonal range largely matches that of the clarinet – a great moment in the hands of world-class viola player Nils Mönkemeyer.
