Katherine Routley

Violin

Of all members of the orchestra, Australian violinist Katherine Routley has travelled the furthest from home. She studied in Sydney, at the Indiana University Bloomington (USA) and the Utrecht Conservatorium. Today at home in the Netherlands, she joined The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in 1989.

Katharine is a founding member of the Utrecht String Quartet and in more than 20 years has recorded numerous CDs with her quartet, including all of Arthur Lourié’s and Alexander Glasunov’s string quartets. Ashe also teaches chamber music at the Utrecht Conservatorium.

Katherine Routley particularly loves concert tours that give her an opportunity to speak her native English, above all in the UK and the US. Her dream is to one day tour her native Australia with the orchestra.

In her free time she enjoys outdoor activities – either doing sports or growing vegetables in her garden.
