Christopher Dicken

Christopher Dicken has been a solo trumpet player with The Deutsche Kammer­philharmonie Bremen since 2000.

Born in Manchester, England, Christopher originally studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. During this time he won numerous prizes and developed his interest in Early Music and playing on historical instruments. He later moved to Berlin for further studies and subsequently enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik Saar – University of Music in Saarbrücken.

Every summer he plays as a member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under the baton of Claudio Abbado. He has appeared as a guest with a range of ensembles, including Capella Andrea Barca with Andras Schiff, Concerto Köln, Ensemble Modern, Qrchestre National de France and Trevor Pinnock’s European Brandenburg Ensemble. He is also a member and Artistic Director of the international brass ensemble WorldBrass.

Since 2011, Christopher Dicken has been visiting lecturer for Natural Trumpet at the Hochschule für Musik Saar – University of Music, Saarbrücken and has given masterclasses in Germany, England, Australia, Brazil and Argentina.

In his free time, he enjoys cooking and the constant challenge to prepare a perfect cappuccino.
