Works by Strauss, Zimmer and Igudesman
In the week leading up to Carnival, Bremen will also be buzzing with musical entertainment. We are celebrating 200 years of Johann Strauss with the brilliant Aleksey Igudesman – violinist, composer, conductor, actor, filmmaker and entrepreneur. Classical training at the Yehudi Menuhin School laid the foundation for a world-renowned career, leading to collaborations with artists such as Hans Zimmer – who recently visited Bremen in person to initiate a project with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie! – John Malkovich and Roger Moore. He also makes up one half of the well-known and popular comedy duo Igudesman & Joo with the pianist Hyung-ki Joo. In the Johann Strauss memorial year, he is presenting his programme ›Global Waltzing‹, which offers a unique perspective on the compositions of the Waltz King. Igudesman’s adaptations of Hans Zimmer’s hits from films such as ›Da Vinci Code‹ or ›Sherlock Holmes‹ are also included, along with his own compositions on the theme of the waltz – all presented in the typical Igudesman mix of classical music and comedy, wit and sophistication.
