Matthias Beltinger

Double bass · principal

Matthias Beltinger studied the double bass at the Folkswang University of the Arts in Essen and the University of Arts in Berlin and also won a scholarship from the Herbert von Karajan Foundation in Berlin. As a young student, he joined the Chamber Orchestra of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, which later became The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.

He regularly plays chamber music with a number of the orchestra’s ensembles and is a member of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen’s Wind Soloists. Apart from that, Matthias Beltinger is a frequent guest player with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Kammerorchester Basel and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Matthias also indulges his passion for historical performance practice and regularly plays his historical double bass with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the Academy for Early Music Berlin and Concerto Cologne.

In addition to his active playing, Matthias has founded the company Resonanzio, which produces acoustic elements for the sound enhancement of concert halls, churches and other concert venues. The result is what at first glance appears to be the simple, but on listening (!) more closely, fascinating development of new resonance plates for acoustic instruments that enhance the instruments’ unique sound. The sound podiums improve the musicians’ perception of their own sound and audiences perceive sharper and better-articulated sound clarity.
