Emma Yoon (*1992), was born in South Korea and began to play the violin in New Zealand at the age of 5. While still at school she was a junior student at the Pettman Junior Academy, before progressing to the University of Canterbury (NZ) where she studied with Stephen Larsen and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree. Since 2015 Emma Yoon has been studying with Elisabeth Kufferath at the Hannover College of Music, Drama and Media where she obtained her MMus and with it qualified for admission to the soloist programme of study.
Emma Yoon is the winner of several national competitions in New Zealand and was a scholarship student of the ROSL Arts/Pettman Scholarship. She has taken part in numerous masterclasses and has given solo as well as chamber music recitals in Europe, the USA and New Zealand. In 2015/16 she was a student member of the NDR Radio Philharmonic.
