 | In music the interval between one note and the adjacent note of the scale is referred to as a second. If they are played simultaneously, these two notes generate a highly dissonant clash and tension which calls for resolution and produces dynamics. If the two notes are played in succession, they create the impression of a step. This dual nature makes the interval an ideal synonym for development.
The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has utilized this idea during its own developmental process. In collaboration with Prof. Dr. Scholz they identified the crucial success factors for their own outstanding performance and compared them with the research findings of other high-performance teams.
This work resulted in a comprehensive management model for high-performance teams. In this '5 seconds model' ten core concepts are consolidated into five fertile areas of tension.
Just as in music, within these areas of tension in team leadership productive debates are also generated which lead to a performance-enhancing equilibrium.
The 5 seconds model currently supports the further development of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, since even this top orchestra can and wants to improve even more as a high-performance team.
It also provides a management model which is clearly communicated and, if properly understood, can be applied comparatively easily to companies and organizations of all kinds.
That is why the five blocks of the presentation are coordinated precisely to the five seconds, in order to convey these concepts as succinctly as possible.
