Sir Roger Norrington

Conductor

Sir Roger Norrington is unquestionably one of the most eminent conductors of our time. With the founding of the SchŸtz Choir in 1962, he began an exploration of period performance practice that made him the specialist he is today. Beginning with seventeenth- and eighteenth-century repertoire, Norrington soon advanced to the symphonic era, followed by Romanticism.
Since the 1998/99 season, Sir Roger Norrington has been Chief Conductor of the Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, which he has given an unmistakable tonal profile, known as the ›Stuttgart Sound‹. His first collaboration with The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, which was an exhilarating experience on both sides, took place at the 2003 Bremen Music Festival, and now continues with a varied program.
