| The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen takes three A renewed deluge of prizes for the world-class orchestra from Bremen's joint interpretations of concerti by Bach, Beethoven, Hummel and Haydn Three CD collaborations between the Deutsche Kammerphiharmonie Bremen and celebrated soloists are among the winners of the ECHO Klassik 2009. The orchestra's interpretations of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major with Piotr Anderszewski, the Bach Piano Concerti with David Fray and Trumpet concerti by Joseph Haydn and Johann Nepomuk Hummel with Alison Balsom were all awarded the coveted prize. And thus the first class international orchestra has swept the boards again, after winning the Deutsche Gründerpreis 2008, the Zukunftsaward 2007, the Jahrespreis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik 2007 and numerous other awards in the past months. In a critique of one of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen's concerto interpretations Spiegel Online described the ensemble as »an almost frighteningly desirable orchestra…«. »Yet again leading soloists are seeking musical partnerships with us, confirming that the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is more than an outstanding Beethoven orchestra; it brings high quality performance to musical styles across the board« says Albert Schmitt, General Manager of the orchestra. The ECHO is an annual award in acknowledgement of outstanding achievements attained by national and international artists. The prizes are awarded by a jury, which makes its decisions based on an evaluation of artistic quality and popular success. Thus the ECHO Klassik reflects both critical opinion and public appreciation. David Fray and Piotr Anderszewski's interpretations were recorded in the orchestra's rehearsal hall in the Gesamtschule Bremen-Ost (Bremen-East Comprehensive). Both pianists performed on The Steinway concert grand that was presented to the Orchestra by the Freundeskreis der Deutschen Kammerphilharmonie Bremen (the orchestra's circle of friends) in 2007. The trumpet concerti with Alison Balsom were recorded in the Protestant church in Lunsen. »The ECHO is also fantastic proof of the wonderful acoustic in our hall in the Gesamtschule Bremen Ost« said Albert Schmitt. The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen moved into its new rehearsal rooms in the Gesamtschule Bremen-Ost in Bremen's Tenever district in 2007. The move has brought the distinguished orchestra into direct cooperation with the comprehensive school - an arrangement that is very probably unique. People from 88 countries form the Tenever community, in what is seen as a socially disadvantaged neighbourhood. More than 60 percent of the people who live here are dependent on social welfare. On moving into the school, the orchestra set itself the challenge of helping to relieve the pupils' frequently difficult living conditions and provide them with an alternative to their narrow perspectives. Projects with the pupils regularly form part of the time table and contact with world-class musicians has become a feature of everyday life at the school. | The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and David Fray recording the Bach Piano Concertos in the Orchestra's hall in the Gesamtschule Bremen Ost.
