Tremendous excitement at Royal Albert Hall. A long line of people waiting in front of the legendary concert hall, where the BBC Proms concerts are presented every year.

The concert has been sold out for weeks - the people waiting in line are hoping for one of the popular standing places.

More than 6,000 concertgoers fill the impressive circular concert hall.

The Kammerphilharmonie performed for the third time at Royal Albert Hall, following its appearances in 2000 and 2003; this concert marked the orchestra's debut with Artistic Director Paavo Järvi.

The program included Beethoven's Symphonies No. 1 and 5 and the Violin Concerto in D major. The orchestra and its Artistic Director received a standing ovation at the close.

Despite the launch of its Schumann Project, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is far from shelving its internationally acclaimed Beethoven cycle. After concerts in Warsaw, Vienna, and London, the orchestra takes the Beethoven symphonies on a major tour to Japan in November.

The soloist for the concert was the outstanding young violinist Hilary Hahn, who made her Royal Albert Hall debut ten years ago. Her interpretation of the Violin Concerto was greeted with wild applause from the audience, which she rewarded with a Bach encore.

Several internationally renowned artists also came to hear The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Paavo Järvi, among them violinist Viktoria Mullova and, in this photo, cellist Steven Isserlis, pianist Alexander Toradze, and pianist Peter Jablonski.
