| Bernd Feuchtner: »According to the generally accepted view, a respectable orchestra should have a music director. It is also good advertising.« Heinrich Schiff: »In our ten-year history we have not been dissatisfied with the alternating conductors. (...) Just wanting to be different is not the reason, instead we have traditionally had several primary concentrations.« Heinrich Schiff in an interview with Bernd Feuchtner, 1991 Autonomy the focal point Until 1999 the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie had no permanent music director. The musicians had their reasons for this. Above all, their own artistic motivation was the focal point; the orchestra worked for the most part with no conductor at all. Beginning in the mid-80s the musicians strived to specialize in certain periods and thus sought out alternating artistic specialists - in order to secure themselves against the influence of one particular artist and to continually derive new inspiration. Every work in their repertoire should be interpreted as authentically as possible. | Mario Venzago Heinrich Schiff Jirí Belohlávek Thomas Hengelbrock Daniel Harding Paavo Järvi | ||||||
