Alexander Shelley

Conductor

Alexander Shelley won the 2005 Leeds Conductors Competition, where he was acclaimed as »the most exciting and gifted young conductor to have taken this highly prestigious award.« He has conducted at the BBC Proms and Copenhagen's Tivoli Festival and collaborates regularly with such orchestras as the BBC Philharmonic.
In addition to his successful conducting career, he also has a strong commitment to music education. He conducted The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in the dance project ›Dance4Life‹ in 2006 and the integrative music and dance theater project ›KonTakt‹ in 2008. After appearing as guest conductor at the Summer in Lesmona Festival in 2007, he assumed the direction of the festival last year. In addition to regular engagements for orchestral concerts, Alexander Shelley has been artistic director of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Berlin's Future Lab at the Gesamtschule Bremen-Ost since 2009.
