The members of the Supporters Circle have made it their foremost major goal to enable the orchestra and its Artistic Director, Paavo Järvi, to carry out its Beethoven Project. Contrary to the trend in our fast-moving world, the Supporters Circle is making it possible for the Beethoven Symphonies to be recorded on SACD with the necessary time for concert preparation, studio production, and postproduction under the best possible technical and artistic conditions. The great success of the project shows how worthwhile this support is. The fact that the symphonies were recorded on the renowned RCA label with Sony BMG was the breakthrough which enabled marketing at the highest level. As a result, the two CDs released thus far have earned reviews unmatched by any other recording recently released worldwide. The greatest national success was receiving the annual award of the German Record Critics in 2007 for Symphonies No. 3 and 8. According to the jury, »...In its transparency and brilliant power, its chamber music-like sophistication, and its analytical and emotional balance, this recording is both original and thrilling...« Thanks to the generous support of its sponsors, Bremen's Beethoven has reached the very top internationally. Bernd Hockemeyer, founder of the Supporters Circle and honorary citizen of Bremen, comments as follows on the award: »We congratulate the musicians and their Artistic Director on their great success.
