What brought you to music, and why do you play your instrument?

There are always many things that influence life, so it is difficult to give absolute answers. If I answer spontaneously, there were two things that brought me to music and have made me stay with it: first, the chance to come into contact with people through something I do well. The other thing is that the self-exploration involved in learning an instrument or a piece of music is extremely challenging but at the same time gives you a strong footing. Why do I play percussion? I was destined for it?? I had a great teacher . . . I really wanted to go to the recreational camp with the school orchestra. :)

How did you come to the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen?

Matthias Beltinger called me...

What is special about this orchestra?

The fact that everyone in the orchestra accepts and respect the others . . . even in difficult times!

How are you musically active in addition to the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen?

I try to play in other orchestras (opera/symphony) and ensembles (Ensemble Modern) often. Furthermore, I try to compose works myself, to see music in connection with the sciences (concerts with Heinz-Otto Peitgen), and to integrate music and other arts (chamber music series ›Back To The Roots‹).

What do you do when you are not making music?

Play with my son and, when he is not there, plan future crazy percussion projects.
