| | Jukka-Pekka Saraste was Chief Conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra for 15 years, and under his direction the orchestra developed into a highly respected ensemble. They toured Europe and Asia together several times, and the orchestra has performed frequently in Vienna since 1993.Saraste has appeared as guest conductor with leading orchestras in Pittsburgh, New York, London, Paris and Göteborg, and he held the position of Music Director in Toronto until 2001.Jukka-Pekka Saraste has dedicated himself especially to the cause of new music and works with contemporary Finnish composers such as Saariaho, Lindberg and Salonen. His CD recording of the complete Sibelius symphonies with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra is worthy of particular mention. |  |
