| On Tuesday, 12 June 2007, the Zukunftsinstitut (Institute for the Future) presented the second Zukunftsaward (Future Award) for the best solutions currently being strategically implemented in viable projects. The most important criterion for this innovation award is a convincing connection between social change and market response. The nine-member jury from the business, scientific, and media sectors first selected and nominated 29 candidates for the final round of the 2007 Zukunftsaward. Only four could win the Zukunftsaward, however - one in each of the four categories. | The Prizewinners The Jury's Reasoning Background Information on the Zukunftsaward 2007 | ||||||

| The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen won the Zukunftsaward in the category ›Best Social Innovation‹. The Jury's Reasoning: In April 2007, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen moved to the Gesamtschule Bremen Ost, a problem area of the city. The orchestra is known for its forays into other related sectors, such as business, science, education, and social affairs - now The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is carrying out a new cultural concept. A world-class ensemble and a school under one roof - that is unique. Culture as a development engine for individuals, but also as an engine for the development of communities, like the orchestra, the school, the city district, or the municipality. The megatrends of new work, education, individualization, globalization, and health are impressively taken into consideration here. | Following its extremely successful launch in 2006, the Zukunftsaward was not only expanded by two categories this year but also incorporated the entire German-speaking area. Whether international corporation, sole proprietor, municipality, association, or student initiative - over 100 applications were received from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by the end of April in four categories: 1. Best Product Innovation 2. Best Service Innovation 3. Best Social Innovation 4. Best Prototype Among the big names were candidates like the Deutsche Bundespost (German Federal Postal Service), the electric power company EnBW, the kitchen manufacturer Poggenpohl, the Hotel Vierjahreszeiten (Four Seasons), the construction company Hochtief, the stationery and office products manufacturers Pelikan and Senator, and the publishing group Ueberreuter. Smaller associations and initiatives surprised the distinguished jury with their no less impressive inventiveness and new technologies. The innovations ranged from futuristic living and working concepts to special types of community platforms to novel products and services that aim at energy efficiency and the promotion of good health. The Zukunftsaward provides proof - the creative class is alive and well! And the Zukunftskongress (Congress of the Future) justifiably had as its theme »Work-Life-Play«.
