›A Thousand and One Nights‹ Summer in Lesmona with Sounds from A Thousand and One Nights 6 - 8 July 2012 The fame of A Thousand and One Nights is based on the well-known stories of Scheherazade. Night after night she kept the cruel King awake and aroused his curiosity with her tales. Through her storytelling, she finally convinced him to give up his murderous ways, thus saving her own life. We also associate A Thousand and One Nights with Turkey, Persia, the Orient, and sensuousness - with both culinary and erotic pleasures. This culture has never ceased to fascinate Western composers and inspire their work. Naturally, the Orient also has its own exotic and enchanting sounds. The musical and sensual pleasures of this culture can be experienced in a variety of ways at Knoops Park - with adaptations of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, musical guests from the East, and particularly the creative picnic variations of the concertgoers.
