Artistic Director of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen

The Estonian star conductor and Grammy Award winner Paavo Järvi has been the Artistic Director of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen since 2004. He is also the Music Director of the Orchestre de Paris. Last season, Paavo Järvi completed his tenure as Music Director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and he has been appointed Music Director Laureate.

As the Artistic Director of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Paavo Järvi has received the highest public and critical acclaim for the concerts and recordings of Beethoven's symphonies. He received the 2010 ECHO Klassik ›Conductor of the Year‹ award for Symphonies No.2 and No.6; Symphonies No.3 and No.8 won the prestigious Annual German Record Critics' Prize for 2007. Paavo Järvi and The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen have performed the complete Beethoven Symphonies cycle in 2009 at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées, at the Beethovenfest Bonn and the Salzburg Festival and in 2010 at the Warsaw Easter Festival.

As well as extensive tours of Europe including a performance at the Schleswig-Holstein-Musik-Festival, in 2010 they went on tour to Japan following highly successful appearances in Canada (Lanaudière Festival), the USA (Mostly Mozart Festival) and at the BBC Proms.

His Schumann Project with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is now entering its third year. Immediately after its release in November 2011, the first CD of the Schumann cycle with Paavo Järvi was named ›CD of the Week‹ by NDR Kultur. »Once again, Bremen's dream team under Järvi has done a magnificent job. In Schumann as well, the Kammerphilharmonie cannot be beat.«

Since the start of his career, Järvi has made it a priority to champion works by contemporary Estonian composers including Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Lepo Sumera and Eduard Tubin. He is also Artistic Adviser to the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and Järvi Summer Festival in Pärnu.
As a guest conductor, he regularly performs with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw and Philharmonia orchestras, Wiener and Berliner Philharmoniker, Dresden Staatskapelle, New York Philharmonic, The Cleveland and Chicago Symphony orchestras.
