 | What brought you to music, and why do you play your instrument?
I have played an instrument since I was three years old (in those days, the recorder). My parents gave me a violin at the age of five - so really by accident.
How did you come to the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen?
When I was in the midst of my studies - in Cologne in 1991 - by chance I ended up at a DDKB concert at Philharmonic Hall. It was a fateful evening for me, since I decided then that this was precisely the orchestra I wanted to play in. Another four years were to pass before my dream became reality.
What has changed for you as a result of the move to the new space in the Gesamtschule-Ost?
When it became apparent that we would move to the GSO, I was not very enthusiastic to begin with. For me and all the other out-of-towners who travel by train, it meant leaving home an hour earlier. It quickly became clear to all of us, however, that it was an absolute stroke of luck for us - the new rehearsal hall is fantastic! I feel especially at home in the area surrounding the school - a very lively place - and new relationships are developing and growing as a result of the students' attendance at rehearsals. By the way, the cafeteria is not bad, either . . . in short - it's worth the trip!!
