Information on the Friends

»It is not the man who owns his own house who should consider himself lucky, but the man whose threshold is well-worn by the soles of his friends' shoes.« It is incredible ­ the Society of Friends of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen grew by 80 members again last year, so that the orchestra's circle of Friends currently numbers 683 members. And ­ with a little awe and a great deal of pleasure ­ we were able to inaugurate one result of this friendship in October 2007 ­ a new Steinway concert grand piano! »Spoorn und Wohrn, do kommt Hebben von her« (Having comes from saving and conserving) ­ our Friends, in particular, know this old Low German proverb and put it into practice. Nothing comes without saving and conservation. We diligently saved and contributed for seven years, and then it was possible to carry out the plan that was formulated shortly after the Society of Friends was founded ­ to purchase a new concert grand. The instrument was presented in October, during an exclusive concert for the Friends in the Kammerphilharmonie's Great Hall at the Gesamtschule Bremen-Ost. At this point, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks once again to all our friends and contributors and, at the same time, encourage all subscribers and concertgoers who are not members yet to join the Society of Friends. There are many good reasons to participate in the ›Friends of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen‹ ­ become a member yourself! Your membership dues help underwrite projects which are not financially self-supporting but are vitally important to the image and the development of the orchestra.

You help us. Through your dues you can support projects like the following: Children's, young people's, and family concerts ›Response‹: composition projects in Bremen schools School workshops ›Bremen Teachers' Academy‹, in cooperation with the bremen shakespeare company and the CeVis Institute at the University of Bremen Summer in Lesmona and other special concert events ›Melody of Life‹ We thank the members of the Friends with a range of exclusive benefits: Membership in a select circle of people with an interest in culture Growing friendship and closeness to your orchestra Current, exclusive information about all the orchestra's major activities Invitations to selected orchestra rehearsals At all subscription concerts: champagne, juice, and a meeting place at our Friends stand Opportunities to travel to selected concert events outside of Bremen Annual private concert For many members, the private concert presented after the annual general meeting is a highlight. The musicians of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen perform exclusively for the members of the Friends in an interesting atmosphere. After the concert, there is a get-together with the orchestra members.
