Certificate of Special Merit forThe Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen

The German Record Critics' Award honors The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen with its Certificate of Special Merit for 2010.

The jury of the distinguished German Record Critics' Award has announced the artists who will receive a Certificate of Special Merit as part of the Annual Awards for 2010. The Certificate of Special Merit is not awarded for a specific recording but is presented to individuals for outstanding achievements in the field of CD and DVD recording. It is conferred on one artist in both the classical and nonclassical categories and one producer. The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is the first orchestra to receive a Certificate of Special Merit.

In its statement, the German Record Critics' Award writes, »In the classical category, the Certificate is presented to The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, which has consistently released outstanding recordings during the past few years, most recently its Beethoven cycle under Paavo Järvi.« The award will be presented with an extensive tribute to the orchestra during a concert by The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen at the Beethovenfest Bonn in September 2010.

»This German Record Critics' Award is a great honor for The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen,« says the orchestra's Managing Director, Albert Schmitt, expressing his thanks. »We are particularly pleased about the Certificate of Special Merit because it recognizes our artistic achievements over a period of many years, thus emphasizing the continuity of our work at the highest level.«

Since the recently completed Beethoven cycle receives special mention in the jury's commendation, naturally this honor also applies to Paavo Järvi, Artistic Director of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
