| ›Bittersweet‹ . . . is an evening about love. About desire, pleasure and beauty, longing and disappointment, seriousness and play - a concert of a special kind! The Back to the Roots fan club can be happy. Stefan Rapp, the percussionist of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, will present two of his unconventional concerts again in Bremen during the current season - as always, with exciting themes and outstanding guests. By popular request from enthusiastic listeners, there will be a second chance to experience the poetic and thought-provoking program Bittersweet on March 26. The trio of Stefan Rapp, Slavik Stakhov, and Franziska Mencz already hosted an evening with this theme at a private event. Now the steadily growing Back to the Roots family also has the opportunity to go on this enchanting lyrical-musical journey. Music and language blend, come into conflict, reinforce, and complement each other. You will hear excerpts from Maurice Ravel's Bolero, a chanson by Georgette Dee, and groovy improvisations - percussion heard and experienced differently for a change. Through the use of marimbaphone and vibraphone, sounds become melodies that you will remember for a long time. Compositions like Jacob ter Veldhuis's Goldrush display the versatile soundscape of the instruments. Poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke, Daniil Charms, and Hilde Domin illuminate both the ›sweet‹ and the ›bitter‹ facets of this moving theme. A relaxing and fascinating evening, with highlights from the percussion repertoire and lyrical texts. Further information on Stefan Rapp at www.schlag-art.de | Press Reviews: »Franziska Mencz's reading was enchanting.« (Kreiszeitung) »There was much to laugh about - . . . and much to admire, for example, in the absurdly virtuosic ›Goldrush‹ by Jacob ter Veldhuis for two percussionists. Stefan Rapp and Slavik Stakhov were such a good team, it seemed as though they could do it in their sleep.« (Kreiszeitung Bremen, 3 February 2010) ![]() (Photo: Julia Baier) Musicians: Poetry Franziska Mencz Percussion Stefan Rapp Percussion Slavik Stakhov Coordination: Gisela Gründl | ||||||
